INVITATION TO OFFER CLIVIA LOTS FOR AUCTION AT 2023 INTERNATIONAL CLIVIA CONFERENCE
OFFERS TO SUBMIT CLIVIA LOTS FOR AUCTION ARE HEREBY INVITED.
The auction will take place on Monday evening, 2 October 2023, at a dinner for Conference delegates at the Conference venue in Milnerton, Cape Town. The Auction Rules will soon appear on the website: cliviasociety.com
Clivia News Vol. 27, No. 2 (of 2018) at pages 7 to 13 will give interested parties an idea of both what is required and what may be expected. For direction on how to go about your promotional photograph, a photographic guideline will soon appear on the website referenced above. This is not a minimum requirement, but general adherence to these pointers will assist prospective buyers to appreciate what will be on offer.
Because about an hour and a half has been allocated to the auction itself, and considerations of time management, desirability, diversity, provenance and quality are paramount, the Organisers reserve the right to select offers received and compile a final catalogue of selected Clivia lots to publish for auction. The Organisers’ discretion may mean that some submissions for auction may not be taken up.
After a sunset cheese and wine function to the background of a live marimba band following 4 conference topics during the day, the Clivia Auction will be conducted by a professional auctioneer. This will be followed by a special sit-down dinner of traditional South African fare. Due to sponsorship and subsidy all delegates are invited to attend this memorable evening at no extra cost above their conference fee, unless their appetite extends to bidding successfully on any of the tempting auction lots.
Auction prospects are to be submitted to gcmidd@mweb.co. za by no later than 14 July 2023, and shall be accompanied by an illustrative photograph and a basic description. The auction catalogue should be ready before the end of August.
