KwaZulu-Natal Clivia Club

Hi to all the KwaZulu-Natal Clivia Enthusiasts, welcome to the KZN Clivia Club – home to wild Gardenii, Swamp and Miniata Clivia species.

KwaZulu-Natal has an enormous amount to offer the clivia enthusiast – there are numerous sites to visit which host Clivia in their natural habitat, 3 annual Clivia shows –  our main show in Pietermaritzburg in September and a Gardenii in June at Kloof and Mini Miniata show in late September at Pietermaritzburg Sunday Tribune Garden Show – all taking place at the peak flowering time.

Sales tables are provided at shows enabling growers and collectors with the opportunity to sell quality plants and seeds as well as meeting other members scattered all over the country.

A wonderful collection of all species of clivia is housed at the National Botanical Gardens in Pietermaritzburg which is well worth a visit during April when the Gardenii are flowering and again during September/October when a wide variety of colours and varieties of C. miniata, C. caulescens, C. cyrtanthiflora and C. nobilis can be viewed both in shade houses and in natural indigenous woodlands created within the Gardens.

We offer informative, relaxed workshops on diseases, growing, care of mature and seedling plants, presentation of show plants, cultivation of seeds, re-potting and breeding. Annual field trips are organised during flowering time and visits to some of the finest private collections KZN has to offer in and around Pietermaritzburg, Eston, Hilton, Ixopo, Kranskop, etc.

There are plenty of knowledgeable and helpful people to give our serious, enthusiastic members expert advice on all topics of clivia breeding, cultivation, showing and others just enjoying a relaxed interest.

The KZN Seed Bank offers a huge variety of quality seeds for sale, many of whom find their way to new homes overseas.

Our annual fee entitles you to join in all the activities offered during the year, a coloured picture filled Year- Book, containing topics of interest to all, quarterly Newsletters, etc while  one gets the opportunity to attend all open meetings, workshops, field trips, while learning and growing plants while participating in the many facets of KZN Clivia Club.
