Cultivar Information

Species: Clivia mirabilis

Record: For reference (Checklist)
Description: Registered Cultivar: A selection of Clivia mirabilis made by Gerhard Faber of George RSA. Distinctive flower colour and pattern sets it appart from other plants as the colour differs from day to day. Named for the candy cane colouration and the Merry-go-round memories. Compact plant with rigid upright leaves 50-60cm X 4.5cm wide. Leaves have the white median stripe and edging and the basal colour is an interplay of carmine and green mixed. A sturdy dark purple peduncle carries an impressive head of flared mouth tubular flowers. Flowers go through a spectrum of vibrant colours as they age. A percentage of green stemmed seedlings result from selfed pollination which indicates a possible yellow split genetics of this plant.
