Cultivar Information
Cultivar Name: 'Crimson Bugles'
Species: Clivia miniata
Breeder:
Record: Registered Cultivar
Description: Registered Cultivar: This miniature plant was selected from a group of six seedlings grown from a seed packet sent to Hugh Bollinger and his clivia propagation partner Lila Bishop ~7 years ago. The packet was labeled as “”breeders mix”” and originated in Australia. However there may be Japanese and Australian clivia genetics somewhere in the breeding. The six seeds germinated grew well and became mature plants with five of them blooming as nice but standard orange clivias. This smallest one was retained only from the standpoint that it was a nice “”pot size”” miniature plant [fully grown at ~30cm (12″”) tall x ~38cm (15″”) wide] and already had an offset. The flowers are solid red (OR2) “”fleur-de-lis”” shaped that have upright petals and opposing reflexed sepals. There are no other colours on the bloom inside or out. Individual blooms are small and dainty much like a tiny Easter Lily trumpet. They are held upright in the flowerhead and do not open wide. The plant offsets readily.
