Description: normal orange coloured flowers with tepals no wider than 4mm, bears little pollen and seldom sets seed. Obtained from a nursery in Nespruit, Mpumalanga in the mid 1980’s. “In the early 1990s, we stayed with Cameron and Di McConie. Cameron was joint owner of Tipperary Nursery (origin of the Cameron Peach and other specials) and had imported the original seed from Belgium and Spain. In the nursery we spotted a clivia with very narrow petals (3 – 5 mm wide) and bought it. Initial thoughts were that it may have been the result of herbicide damage, but it flowered true the following year, and had to be a unique mutation. It was the first plant which we included in the Frats (Afrikaans = ‘Freak’) group because of the extraordinary shape of the tepals.” Connie & James Abel
