Cultivar Information
Cultivar Name: Desert Rose
Species: Clivia robusta
Breeder: Gerhard Faber
Record: Registered Cultivar
Description: Registered Cultivar: This C. robusta selection was named by Gerhard Faber. The tall, vigorous plant resulted from habitat seed of unknown origin and produces dark purple peduncles carrying a full head of 30 plus tubular flowers of a very dark bronze with intense dark green, almost black tips. The tepal tip structure is quite unique for the species. Flowers age to a dark purplish colour. It is named after the colour tones found in the Namib desert, especially when the sun sets over the dunes. The rounded, pointy tips is reminiscent of a sandstone rock buried in the desert sand, a Desert Rose.
