Cultivar Information
Cultivar Name: 'Utopia Spectre'
Species: Clivia miniata
Breeder: Carrie Kruger
Record: Registered Cultivar
Description: Registered Cultivar: The plant is compact with short erect leaves. It has large, broad petal flowers on a good umbel. The ghosting is very prominent. Flowers are mostly white with some colour mostly on the tips of the petals and a darker halo in the centre of the flower. It produces viable pollen and sets seeds well. Unlike other typical ‘Florid White Lips’ plants, flowers of this crosshas broad tepals and a very good shape. It has inherited the compact form of the berry parent. This plant was awarded Judges Choice and Gold in first flower class any other colour at the EPCC Show in 2016. The berry parent is Clivia miniata ‘Florid White Lips’ crossed with the pollen parent Clivia miniata Ghost 2. Images of this plant in Clivia Yearbook Vol Seventeen, page 112 published 2016 and in Clivia Yearbook Vol Eighteen, page 100 published 2017. This plant was named because the judges who chose it as their favourite flower could not stop taking about it, the inference being that it was something that would haunt them for a long time.
