Description
This is a common name given to the hybrid plant Clivia x cyrtanthiflora in Australia which has been incorrectly called Clivia nobilis by the gardening writers for many years. It in no way infers species status, but is just a means of telling people about the common pendulous flowered Clivia found in old gardens, botanic gardens and parks in Australia. Darker orange-red and paler forms exist. Please be sure to check the description of the true species Clivia nobilis, as that plant is now more widely grown in collections in Australia. Also, be aware that many different interspecific crosses are grown now and they can have pendulous flowers, as can the other pendulous flowered species. Take care in researching the identity of your plant.
